Transparent Brushing Glaze
I aimed to create a new type of brushing glaze medium. My intention was to incorporate a locally sourced, transparent glossy glaze that comes in a powder form and to mix it with a brushing glaze medium. It was essential for this medium to have a long shelf life when stored in its container. Additionally, it needed to effectively suspend the glaze within the solution, preventing it from settling firmly at the bottom over time. I also required the solution to be water-based, but I wanted it to retain the easy application characteristics typical of oil-based mediums. Oil-based mediums are particularly relied upon in the field of silkscreen printing, which is my area of expertise. This goal presented several challenges that I needed to tackle. Furthermore, I intended for the brushing glaze mediums to be applicable over a range of underglaze colors or various types of stains without necessitating any hardening processes. I am pleased to report that my latest formulation of the brushing medium is stable and successfully addresses all the aforementioned issues.
