PotteryTech Clay Shrinkage Lab
Ruler Generator
🧪 How to Measure Clay Shrinkage:
- 1. Prepare Sample: Roll out a clay slab approximately 5mm thick. Cut it to roughly 110mm x 50mm.
- 2. Mark: Carefully draw a line exactly 100mm long on the wet clay surface.
- 3. Dry & Measure: Allow the test tile to dry completely (Greenware). Measure the line again and enter this as “Greenware 🍃 mm”.
- 4. Bisque & Measure: Fire the tile to bisque temperature. Re-measure the line. Enter this as “Bisque 🔥 mm”.
- 5. Glaze & Measure: Glaze and fire the tile to final temperature. Re-measure. Enter as “Glaze 🎨 mm”.
- 6. Use the Tool: Select the stage transition (e.g., Dry ➜ Bisque) to generate a ruler specifically for that step of the process.
