Bullers™ Rings Heatwork: Quick Start Guide
Welcome to the Heatwork Professional tool. This application is the first step in recording your kiln firing data. Once you log your rings here, you will send the parsed data to the Analytics tool for deeper insights.
Here is how to get from start to finish:
1.Set Up Your Firing Session:Start by entering your basic kiln and ring details..
- Session Metadata: Enter your name, the kiln you are using (e.g., “Electric 01”), and a reference for the date or load.
- Kiln Settings: This is crucial for accurate math. Select the exact type of Bullers Ring you are using from the drop-down menu (like the standard TR27/84). Set your Target Temp so the tool knows what temperature you were aiming for.
2.Log Your Ring Measurements:Record the fired size of each ring one by one..
For each ring you pull from the kiln:
- Select its Location (e.g., Top Shelf, Centre).
- Type in a quick Custom Label if you want to remember exactly where it sat next to a specific piece of pottery.
- Enter the Final Ø (mm). This is the exact diameter of the ring after it has been fired.
- Click + Add Measurement. The tool will instantly calculate the temperature and Bullers Ring Value (BRV) for that specific spot.
3.Review the Heatwork Chart:Check for hot and cold spots at a glance..
As you add rings, the Heatwork Analysis & Chart section will build automatically:
- The visual graph shows you exactly how evenly your kiln fired from top to bottom.
- The table below color-codes your temperatures: green means you hit your target, red means it fired hot, and blue means it fired cool.
- If you make a mistake, simply click the ✕ next to a measurement to delete it.
4.Parse and Send to Analyzer:Move your data to the next phase..
Once all your rings are logged, it is time to move your data to the analytics stage.
- Scroll down to the Parse Data section.
- Click the green Send to Analyzer ➔ button.
- The tool will automatically translate your session into code, save it, and open the Analytics application in a new tab so you can begin the second phase of your workflow.
