Legend lists every point. Use the “Reference location” and “Layer” fields to print those on each sheet.

Welcome to PotteryTech Tools & Privacy Setup

Designed by Michael George Parry-Thomas

PotteryTech provides free, interactive tools for potters to accurately understand kiln heatwork and manage studio data. These tools were originally designed for personal studio use and are now shared to help fellow hobbyists organize their data efficiently.

Privacy & Data Storage: All tools operate 100% in your browser. We do not upload, store, or back up any of your data on our servers. You are responsible for your data. We highly recommend saving files directly to your personal cloud storage (so you can access them across devices) or printing hard copies for a physical binder.
Bullers™ Rings & Kiln Mapping

Kiln Batt Reference Template

The first step in mapping your kiln’s internal heatwork zones. Use it to record ring positions on each layer (Top/Middle/Bottom).

  1. Setup: Print the template matching your kiln shape (Round, Square, Hex, Oblong). Mark ring locations using Compass-9 or Clock-12 numbering.
  2. Log: Complete the sheet before firing to note exactly where every ring sits.
  3. Analyze: After firing, compare Top/Middle/Bottom layers for hot or cold spots to adjust your future schedules or element balance.

Bullers™ Rings Heatwork Tool

Converts final ring diameters into BRV and approximate temperatures using editable correlation tables.

  • Enter ring labels and final Ø (mm) to view per-ring BRV, temperature, and shrinkage percentage.
  • Set a target temperature to quickly identify rings above, below, or near your target.
  • Print the visual graph or copy the clean notes block directly into your Kiln Firing Log Book.
Orton Pyrometric Cone Tools

Cone Pack Set Finder

Quickly match kiln firing temperatures to the correct Orton cones. It generates your perfect Cone Pack set (Guard, Target, and Witness cones) and provides a clear chart you can save or copy into your log book.

Cone Angle → Temperature Tool

Enter the bending angle of an Orton cone after a firing, and this tool will convert it into an estimated equivalent temperature based on standard heating rates. Great for verifying finished firings.

Pyrometric Cones Template (PDF)

A digital pocket-sized measuring template for Orton Large and Self-Supporting Cones. Includes Celsius temperature equivalents on the back—perfect for physically measuring the bending angle of a fired cone.

Glaze Stock & Studio Management

Glaze Stock Management Tool

An efficient digital method for tracking your jars of brushing glaze, helping you prevent re-buying duplicates and losing track of small jars.

  • Add/Edit: Input glaze name, brand, stock number, container size, and remaining volume (in ml), plus tags and notes.
  • Visual Tracking: A window displays your stock featuring a graphical line showing remaining material levels.
  • Clear & Repeat: Hit the clear form button to rapidly log your next jar. Keep information on hand for easy reordering from your supplier.
